The Corrieyairack.

Rode from Kingussie, over the Corrieyairack, and down the south of Loch Ness to Dores.



The wind was screaming, could barely stand some times, and when it went through the pylons it sounded like heavy surf. And then it would go away for a few minutes and come back from a slightly different direction. It was trying to blow me off the track, and any time I had a wheel in the air, it got whipped to the side.

'Twas fun.

There was one big mistake though. I figured I'd ride the south side of the loch even though there's a steep 600 feet climb just out of Ft Augustus. Well that took me forever and wore me out. Thought I must have been bonking. When I got to the top there's a carpark and a plaque. Oops, slight miscalculation, 1,200 feet!

I'm worn out just looking at the picture and imagining the wind, never mind the climb! (The wind has been a bit of a pain this week, but the rare sunshine has definitely made up for it.)

Didn't even touch a bike today other than to move the Co-Op roadster out of harm's way when changing a CV boot on the car...

...What's the track like up from Garva Bridge to the summit?

It's been "improved" since I last rode it.

Heaps of waterbars/drains, but they're hug and a considerable obstacle. Most of them could be ridden easily once the line was spotted, but first I had to dismount to check it. (Was on my own, didn't want to risk bending the bike or myself from an excess of enthusiasm.)

After being cooped up most of the day (bloody rain) I went for a trundle up the coast just after tea time (minus ma tea) came back in the dark (with no lights) now am 'guttin' :facepalm:
BTW that's me worn right through the grips on the Blue Pig 'ard core' or what

Went for a wee trundle roond Blairadam this afternoon, should have gone earlier as I had to cut it short as it really pished doon so ended up a bit drookit.
It was dry last Monday afternon but it's no noo. :roll:

Some effin bam is still putting branches and logs across the trails, one was deliberately perched between 2 tree stumps so that it was off the ground in an attempt to catch a front wheel. Moron.
