And today I did......

Re:

Today I can not find a suspension bush, rubber or elastomer mount, drive coupling or anything off of any machine, either agricultrual, plant or industrial workshop, that I can suitably bodge to make and elastomer bush for my GT-LTS 4 rear suspension... so looks like I may have to bite the bullet and the correct part from the USA. I hate that when I can't bodge somethign together from a range of seeminly unsuitable parts...

Bin it and buy a Real USA made LTS with a real shock - I may have one on the wall not doing anything and unlikely to get built....

Plus I have an M901 front mech and 27.0 seatpost conveniently already on there, with an uber rare AC Headset going begging you have the coil sprung basics of a cracking bike - and no elastomers to worry about!

Would high modulus silicone be too soft as an elastomer replacement? cut both ends of a tube of it, allow to cure ( a week or two at full thickness) drill whilst still in the tube then push out and trim to size?

Funny you should say that..I already and that thought

I am only doing this build because it is free. If I have to buy a frame then I wold not do it.

Sorry..no sale..not to me any how

If you want to try the idea of a tube of bathroom silicon then i think you would need to put it under pressure while its curing :? Otherwise i think it will just fall apart when compressed :?

Today i had more Hope bits arrive. Just some ebay stuff but still nice and very much needed.

Ti-glide lockring(the small one) JUST what i was needing for the Hope tandem hub i got in the joblot :D Only the axle and spacers for that ,though i think all of it might be already in the pile if only i could identify them

Note back from Hope
For general information- No more BULB rear hub ratchets left :( Im going to see if they actually have anything we could use kicking around :? Im going to ask to see it theyve things like lockrings or spiders or spacers.
Trouble is they might have something isted but as nobody knows the part number for a 5 bolt spider there could be some left in a box somewhere.
They've also added some more bits to their archive, not sure if it was the result of me prodding them about it but its a good result.

I turned a collar on the lathe today, and fitted that over the new too soft bush...that has reduced its ability to expand, so making the ride a bit firmer. it has reduced the travel a bit too..but it will do for now

The pivot bolt at the rear...with standard bolt heads, is snapped at the point where the rear brake cable would fit on canto brakes...so tomorrow need to turn down a new one on the lathe.

I did try Landrover leaf spring bushings from the eyelet ends..but they are too hard...been down the boat yards but the rollers I found are too hard.
