Am I missing something ?

Hi All,

Take a look at this; a couple of points :

Are the wheels on this parallel ?

The handlebars/stem aren't in the usual configuration :D - take a look at the direction in which the front fork is facing.

However, it has bids on it . . .

The ad. mentions :

'. . . . . . . use it as a form of transport, use to make money as a little sideline earner such as taking the bride to a wedding or school person to a prom'. :LOL:

There is technically nothing wrong with putting the stem behind the steerer - bearing in mind the huuuuge length of the frame it's clearly necessary.

I'd be more worried about its sheer weight: uphill must be a challenge without reward, while hose brakes looks to be inadequate downhill.

hand position isnt so different to something like this

Yes, entirely inadequate;

" the folk who built it say they clocked 42mph"

. . . perhaps they couldn't stop. :)

As you've mentioned, must be very hard work going up hills - however slight.

There are pedals for the passenger too.

Yes, I'd noted that . . . but I can't work out what they drive ?

there's a shaft running across the frame to another sprocket that then has a chain running into the captain's drive system

I can see what you mean, now I'm using my PC and can see all the photos.

There's a bracket (& rose joint) connected to the top of the front fork - surely, it would have been safer to connect to the frame ?
