Aluminium frame singlespeed conversion

Fixie off road strikes me as daft - landing from a small hop and still keeping my legs going round is certainly beyond me... :D

You may be able to get away with a half link chain and no tensioner.

Otherwise, grab a chain tensioners like I've done on my M2.

If you've got some disposable income available, do what I did and get a White Industries ENO eccentric hubbed rear wheel built up.

Result is any of my mountain bikes easily becomes a SS bike without a tensioner or the need for horizontal dropouts/track ends. The hub axle is effectively off centre from the mounting bolts so that wheel can be rotated around the drop out centre to tighten the chain.

Charlie the Bike Monger sells them on the web, brilliant things :D

Do you have to use a chain tensioner? Not sure if the drop outs can be altered (haven't seen the bike for a couple of years and can't say I spent much time looking at the drop outs anyway!).

How did the Pace fixie conversion work?

Replaceable drop outs on the pace.
