Alpinestar Cro-Mega LX (Project stage)

having sat about in the shed waiting / hoping for a swap for a larger frame i have decided it was time the Alpinestar was built its not great due to lack of of original parts, the only original part on it is the rear wheel

But i like it and that's all that really counts i guess, i will over the years no doubt track down some parts but till then i want it up and running

the wheels are starting with the rear a mavic m324 with an lx hub and mitchellin wildgripper light the front is a maviv 517 SUP with LX hub and a NOS Mitchellin Wildgripper

i got some SLR levers, with dx thumbies a profile stem with trans x handlebars a zoom seatpost missing the seat fitting, a xt m732 rear mech and a matching front mech not fitted, a hope seat collar, not fitted yet is a mt62 crank with deore dx pedals some NOS tecktro canti's with black chill pills

Let me know what you think or possible alteration you would make

There is nothing wrong with a mix of parts but personally I prefer a flat bar over the one you have there, thats just my taste though.

Over time I would want full LX and keep the dx thumbies and tektro cantis, its a great looking frame and certainly deserves to get used.

Yeah, flat bars would look better on this bike IMO, the_duke said it all I guess.

totally agree with the bars unfortunately the only straight bars i have are a NOS blue USE set up with matching USE barends which currently adorns my Grisley or a set of purple astars bars which have been cut down to within an inch of their life (i must add not by me) so at the moment they will have to stay unless some one has a better cheap option for me ??

Build it as you feel, I quite like a Heinz 57 job, especially on an iconic frame like that.....do agree that flats will look better though!.....get it moving and enjoy it!.....

I have a redundant black A'stars stem/uncut bar you can have for Postage costs - or if you're going to Mayhem I'll chuck it in the van. Also got a Turbo saddle on a black A'stars seatpost ditto?

Before adding original parts from We Are Stevo i have now got an orginal set of bars, stem seatpost and saddle to be added next dry day

added parts are mt60 cranks, Deore DX pedals, specialed seat and grips and a TCO seatpost and of course the chain
