Sorry i put my hands up as I think I was to involved into getting this hub running smooth but with no previous experience.
Yes they do go backwards which somehow slipped my mind as my youngest always puts his kickstand down too early and the pedal always catch's against it when I'm putting it away.
Anyway the hub is running smooth and correct now. I replaced the gear cable, took the hub apart to clean everything, quick oil bath with plenty of draining then greased accordingly. Had to replace a couple of seals that were split. Then set it up with correct adjustment.
