age of interest ?

For me i like the look of very early bikes from klunkers to midlate 80's bikes.

But I then seem to have settled on mid to late 90's bikes to build up, as I also like v brakes for any bike i ride regularly, some half decent ahead system suspension up front and im not to fussed about period correct.

Although i understand it was possibley inferior to earlier groupsets, i do just love the look of M737/9 stuff.

The 97ish bikes are a lot more forgiving on the eye if you hang modern tat on them too.

But then im happy to be a pleb and RB welcomes and caters for all.

have we left the 80's ?
I hope not! late 80's early to mid 90's remains for me the pioneering years of MTB sport ..and this will not change, in the next 100 years, not!

This is the old "should we move the cutoff date?" thread in disguise isn't it...

damm ,youv'e foiled my cunning disguise

just been noticing a lack of 80's bikes of late thats all
i suppose in retro terms the mid -late 90's was when bikes became
more competent ,so are still viable in a day out with mates on modern stuff , and a bit less precious

Personally I like looking at bikes from the late 80s, the look of bikes from the early 90s, and to ride, bikes from the mid 90s - but that's just me...

We haved moved more to early 90's but I think it's more to do with plenty of them around where as that's not so much the case for 80's bikes
