Affordable Touring 700c Frameset V brakes - New - Recommendations

^ Good shout. Looks in tip-top condition too. It is technically a Hybrid, but will most likely accommodate drop bars with a short stem.

Thanks for an interesting thread. Last year, I was searching for exactly the same kind of frameset. New options were scarce, so decided to wait for something secondhand - such as a heavier built steel hybrid, or, touring frame with 135mm OLD.

Locally, a tired & neglected 21-year-old Koga Miyata Terraliner turned up. It needed a fair bit of work to get it back on the road but turned out ok. 20220209_110031.jpg 20220212_112623.jpg
Heavy, but stable with a 71 degree parallel frame. It's a slow bike & doesn't appreciate any efforts to be hurried. V brakes and wide-range 3 x 8 gearing, plenty of clearances for tyres, mudguards, and full sets of panniers, make it versatile. Seems to be similar (in some ways) to a Surly LHT frameset; Koga and Miyata - both together and individually - also have respected touring heritage.

The CUK classifieds are often a good source of quality second hand touring bikes with realistic/ generous pricing: https://forum.cyclinguk.org/viewforum.php?f=40
