Advice please

Over the past few years I've gradually renovated my 1995 Langdale Lightweight 653, I've had it resprayed by Mercian though I've not used the original Langdale font for the frame transfers. I preferred some other font.
The bike is equipped with Record 9 speed Ergolevers with Chorus F & R mechs, chainset and pedals, I've just fitted some Delta brakes (from John M on here). An aero seat post with Cinelli bars and stem, I have some early Vento aero wheels and also some Campagnolo Mexico 68 rims on Chorus hubs.
It's the Mexico rims I'd like some advice on. They still have their original stickers but they're getting a bit past it, also the silver finish is a bit ropey too. I was thinking of dismantling the wheels and having the rims resprayed to match the colour of the bike (white) and some new stickers made.
Any views? Sacrilege or not?

If it was mine and thats what I wanted then thats what I would do.It does not matter what anyone else thinks.Its your bike and you have had a vision for how it will look. Go for it.

Only one thing.Measure the thickness of the brake surfaces before you spend money on them.No point in going through all that only to find that they give up in the first few months.Could you not do it somehow without stripping them all down.Chance of damaging the finish on re build if it is only spray paint.Also does spokes no good to be taken out and re set.I cant help but feel at the end of the day that white paintwork down at road level with all the chippings etc is not going to last too long. However if you dont try it you wont know. worst comes to worst you can always strip them back. Best of luck with it

Thanks for the replies. Hi Nob, i follow your bike ventures on the TT forum.
this morning I looked into whether powder coating might provide a more durable finish but wondered about the curing temperature affect on the rims. Something else to investigate.

Brian - the bike pictured above has had the front wheel powder coated & was done by a firm Pete Matthews uses so you may wish to contact him as he built the from wheels as he is a famed wheelbuilder with his Pianni white rims.
