You know the answer to that!

Any views on speedplay?

If you buy cheap, you will end up buying again, as cheap shoes are..... cheap. You don't have to buy expensive shoes, just good ones.

I like speedplay, Jon, Kt and I have them on all our road bikes. The pedals are very light, simple and are double sided. The down side is / are the cleats, which are quite complicated to set up compared to something like SPuDs.

That said, once they are done, they are done, and the fact they have completely adjustable rotational play is a bonus for those of us with older knee joints.

I wouldn't say £80 was cheap. Those lg ones were nice look up lg Montana. Mike gg is sending me speedplay pedals and cleats karma.

I would.

My Fizik shoes are £250 full price. Jon's Bont's are more and his Lake's are a similar price.

However. I actually paid £100 for my second pair of Fizik's, as they were on offer at the end of the season.

Like I said, don't buy cheap, buy good.

Well all relative then. Most if not all of my bikes cost less than your spats sorry shoes.

Re: Advice on clipless pedals and shoes please for road use

here is another bloke who is size 10 and who takes a shimano 47 which i believe equates to size 12
i also prefer look delta [dirt cheap s/h] blk non float cleats dont agrivate the old ankle injury like red cleats
specialised i find comfy i have yet to try sidi/northwave and diadora

Re: Advice on clipless pedals and shoes please for road use

Crazy sizing eh? Like I said found two pairs of non leery shies I could live with to start. Both 46

Re: Advice on clipless pedals and shoes please for road use

I use M077 and M088 shoes THM, got both in end of season sales, for less than £50 a pair. I can't justify more on bits of plastic, that will get wet and muddy off road. Bike clothing is ridiculously priced these days

Re: Advice on clipless pedals and shoes please for road use

Yep mo88 or lg montana

Re: Advice on clipless pedals and shoes please for road use

Against nearly all the advice on here, I like big chunky road cleats/pedals, just feel better to me on a road bike.

Plus if you don't

A lad I used to train track with had cerebral palsy, watching him get down the banking to the track was quite a nervewracking affair!

Yes liking the shoes with recessed cleats so I can at least maintain my dignity, while wearing myfull Lycra budgie smugglers, flouro helmet and skin tight jersey.
