Adding V bosses to carbon forks

I'm thinking of using Pace RC31 canti bosses on another make of carbon forks (same dia legs).

Does anybody know if the Pace legs are internally reinforced to take canti bosses? I'm reckonong that if not then the plain carbon tube must be upto the task, and then assuming (dangerously!) that any other decent carbon fork leg should be the same??

I'm sure I've read somewhere (STW maybe?) that Pace mounts can be used on other carbon forks (Superstar, On-One etc.)

I'd have thought it would be ok. But was the fork in question ever designed for mounts? I can't imagine they'd need any butting around the area, but you never know :?

I was thinking of an On One which comes disk only. I would rather use V's on my single speed as I doubt I'll ever go fast enough to warrent disks. (which I don't have spare anyway, and I do have spare XTR V's)

sounds risky to me to be honest. its a safety critical area and i dont think you should take chances with stuff like brakes and forks

I have seen pace canti mounts used on other forks but I'm not sure I'd want to do it myself unless I was sure that the forks were up to it. I'd suggest calling Pace (they're quite a friendly lot) and asking them if the RC31 is built up in that area - if it is then I'd only use the mounts on a different fork with similar design.

It could also be worth emailing Brant at on-one and asking about his forks

The RC31 carbons are a plain gauge tube and don't have any form of reinforcement where the V-mounts fit, but obviously their fitting was taken into consideration during the design. Never seen a pair broken at the V-mounts area.
I guess it depends if the forks you have were designed with a clamp-on v-mount in mind too?
