Got a nice 92 T bone here if you're interested

Thanks chap, but picked one up the other day as an option already.

Also have another nice stem I'm thinking of powdercoating with the frameset.

My KR comes back from the LBS tonight, sans BB, so I'm totally going to be copying your fine work as I try to melt my seatpost this week. :D

Ah good luck. As I say, make sure the strength is enough to get it going without being too strong, it will heat up so hot you cant touch the seattube, keep emptying it every hour or so or top it up and do it outside for the fumes!

Wear protective goggles and gloves at least..

Up to you if you put a bung in the top or bottom but if you turn it upside down like me (I had to as seatpost started so far down) but if you put it upside down make sure the bung goes further than the toptube junction else it will run out of there and wont be melting anything! (I used a new packet of white tac rolled into a tube and tightly pushed in).

Report back how you get on!

Re:

This is what my "bung" looked like. White tac that got so hot it's gone crystalised in places:

And my trusted tool to get the caustic soda down the small hole in the bottom bracket, an old pump. Note how out of shape it is due to the heat:

Hopefully moving this to paint next week or two. Hard to build it up when the main thing is getting the frameset right.

Work in progress! Money tight so respray will wait whilst I clean up some bits. Stem and bar are to hand so no work needed there.

Seatclamp.

Its a weird size.. Bigger than 34.9 it seems but not 36. I've found before with these that the original Saracen one fits way better than anything else so trying to save it.

Unfortunately the bolt has gone AWOL. Nice long roofing bolt in. It currently looks awful like this:

I have ordered a new one from eBay for £1.49 (a-bolt-from-the-blue) they are great eBay sellers and have bolts of all types cheap cheap cheap

Dude just read the whole thread. Epic work with that post. There should be a pantheon of caustic soda legends and you should be straight in to the hall of fame.

Really looking forward to seeing the end result :)
