A Raleigh Olympus 5-speed renovation - FINISHED

Re: A Raleigh Olympus 5-speed renovation

If the full mudguards aren't to be used why not get some of those 70's 'sports 1/4 guards'
you know those useless short bits which fastened at the brakes!

I loved to see the little guards as a kid but now think 'what was there use'

Re: A Raleigh Olympus 5-speed renovation

Personally Id keep the red ones, they re part of the machine, part of the look!

Re: A Raleigh Olympus 5-speed renovation

Yeah, keeping the red. Would change them if it were for me, but I've just been asked to get it back to how it looked originally.

My first racer. Watching with interest.

Ditto, but mine was red which made it faster ;)

And mine. Mine was dark blue. Got it for Christmas in the late 70s.

Finally finished what I could do with this Raleigh. Looks tidy I think.

The school bike sheds used to be filled with these and Carltons.

This one looks like it's fit for the same service for another generation or two.
Nice work, well done!

Stunning. A true labour of love

Are those original brakes? Mine had center pull weinmanns.

Brings a smile to my face to see this one. We had plenty of these at school. Bike talk in the sheds was always a favourite until moved on by a prefect...
