A new build... its a Stif Squatch

So it is built. Hooray. I'm flat out at work so got someone to swap the parts over from my ragley big al. Should collect it tomorrow and then an agonising wait until Sunday night at the earliest before I can get out on it...

Think it looks great, but those fork decals need to change from green!

Love little things that elevate it like this figure 8 chainstay bridge

And how these seats stays taper super flat, just looks so good. Have to wait to see what it rides like

Basic kit is slx 1 x 11, codes rsc sram brakes, fox 34s.

Only thing I want to change is the fork decals

But I'm very happy indeed

Bloody hell that's a f-----n low bottom bracket.

what a fabulous frame - gorgeous seat stays

I would guess it'll be pedal-strike-city in single track. That's what I have in my Mmmmbop - and I cured the 10-strikes-a-day habit by fitting some 165 cranks. That 5mm difference was all it took to change rides from teeth-grindingly worrying to fast n low fun.

Yeah it's the lowest I've ridden. I'm actively looking to swap the 175s for 165s. What cranks do you have?

I’m running an ancient 68/73 XT 165 with a single narrow wide 32T

I paid 20.00 on fleabay - great chain line and good Q

Note that Hope have done testing with 155 and 150 - and found wattage barely suffers. I felt the difference in leverage for about five rides - and downshifted and upped cadence. After that it became completely natural.

I’ve now bought a shed load of 165 XTR and those are v nice

Nice thanks. I saw a review on the hopes but I worry 155 would be like leddaling a kids bike. Good for the shorter legged.

Thanks for the link I'll look up similar

Interestingly analysis of power output shows that shorter cranks are of more benefit to taller people - it means they have to move the higher mass of their legs less. Which is REALLY interesting I think.
