MacRetro Rider
What year provided the mountain bikes you most enjoy riding ?
After some thought I have realized my two most comfortable mtbs I've ever owned is 1987. Comfort is very important for me, the more so as I get older but this can be achieved without suspension or fancy shock posts etc.
First retrobike I owned, that is the first one I purchased knowing what retro was and desiring to buy into the concept, was a 1987 Schwinn Mesa Runner.
Here's a link to a picture of one:

Technically a 26er hybrid but easily fit 2.1" knobblies and accompanied me to Cannocks 2007 Turkey Twizzler be it with an awful black rattlecan paintjob. It had a 25" frame, ideal for my lofty height and relaxed geometry. Heavy but ultra stable and very comfy. Really wish I had not got rid
Currently i commute on another unsung hero of the mtb world. This is where it gets a bit iffy as I only have a very vague definition of 1987 but the geometry fits. An Emmelle Dolomite, slack angled and comfy with basic chromolly frame.
Other years that have been good for me are 88 and 89.
What was the one year of manufacture has given you the best riding experiences ?
