96 S Works M2 brake boss

Might as well add off-topic M2 info for the nerds.
Models:
1991: StumpJumper M2 (pink, yellow decals), StumpJumper M2 Team (silver, yellow decals). If anyone has a 1991 M2 Team frame, please PM me with pics.
Late ‘91/early ‘92 Team frame: Red with yellow decals, but unlike Ned’s bike still has the circular Ned badges on the top tube. This is the frame in the “We’re only making 500” ad.
1992: S-Works only. Base trim (black), Pro (Purple Haze), Team (red, this is the Ned frame).
1993: StumpJumper M2 (purple/dark green fade), StumpJumper M2 FS (black, magenta decals), S-Works M2 Team (similar to 1992, but with rounded seat collar and slightly different dropout shape).
1994: First year for removable derailleur hanger. Different design than the 95+, so harder to track replacements down. StumpJumper M2 (black, orange/mauve decals), StumpJumper M2 FS (turquoise, red decals), S-Works M2 Mountain (matte navy blue), S-Works M2 FS Mountain (matte gray, or red with yellow decals), S-Works M2 Road (matte navy blue).
1995: Revised derailleur hanger (mid-year?). StumpJumper M2 (red, white decals), StumpJumper M2 FS (black, white decals), StumpJumper M2 Comp FS (denim blue, white decals) S-Works M2 Super (matte navy or deep blue), S-Works M2 Team (red, white/blue decals)
1996: StumpJumper M2 (silver? will edit), StumpJumper M2 FS (matte deep blue), StumpJumper M2 Comp FS (azure or deep metallic blue), S-Works M2 Team (pretty much identical to 1995 frame), S-Works M2 Ned Olympic (white, unique Olympic colored decals).
Late 1996: StumpJumper M2 FS (ice blue), S-Works M2 (colors known so far are anodized silver and very deep blue).
After 1996 they got a lot more complicated so I’ll post on those soon.
Seatpost size was 26.8 from 1991 to 1993, 27.2 in 1994 and 30.9 from 1995 to 2000.
1991-1998 models had a 73mm BB shell width. All models had 135mm dropout spacing and V/canti bosses only. 1991 models had a 1” headtube, all FS models from 1992 onwards had 1 1/8” but rigid models retained the 1” up until the 1995 model year when 1 1/8” became standard on all models.
Seatpost collars were integrated into the frame on all models until 1994, the 1994 S-Works did away with it and by 1995 it was gone from all models.
Replaceable derailleur hangers were introduced in 1994 and revised around mid-1995, and again in 1999.
1991-1993 M2’s should be run with 50mm or lower travel suspension forks, or rigid. 1994-1998 frames will support up to 80mm, but 63 is the sweet spot for 1994. 1999-2000 are the only models designed for 100mm forks. Running over 90mm travel on frames made before 1999 is an express ticket to the hospital. You have been warned…
Oh right, the 1996 Ground Control M2 FSR. Appears in the catalog, but according to a guy on that German forum, was never put into production. Apparently there was a red S-Works frameset too. Still looking for IRL pics…
Finally, single butted frame tubes appeared in 1994 with the S-Works models (M2X) and double butted frames came out in 1996 with M2XX. Brake bosses were M8x1.25 from 1991 to 1994 (boo), M10x1 from 1995 to 1996 (boo) and the standard M10x1.25 from 1997 until 2000 (yay). (need confirmation on this, could be M10x1 for 1997-98 too). Head tube gussets got stronger as the M2 evolved, allowing for longer travel forks.

Phew… my arm is sore (FROM TYPING… I swear). Break time… Hope this info helps at least someone. M2 history is a very deep rabbit hole lol

He got the gold stuff (UV exposed top coat likely) off the frame… looks stunning. He’s gonna do a gloss clear coat rather than the original matte, to make the silver anodizing stand out more. Drool-worthy - but without any bright colored goodies, making the most out of plain old silver. Will likely be an unassuming build - grayscale doesn’t grab attention like 3DV or turquoise, but the color is what makes the bike so unique. And I bet it’ll be under 25lbs complete… (Sorry, all measurements in Freedom Units.)
Love this project so much. I had barely any resources to get it built myself, but now that it’s with someone who can get it done and has me as the ultimate consultant, my vision for the bike will finally become a reality!

Ok, first go at removal of top coat. Went really well and the "environmentally safe" stripper ( I love those ones) took off the stickers too. Had to reapply stripper many times. Pic is first try. I do have the frame down to bare anodize now and it is glimmering. Post some pics of complete strip tomorrow when I recoup.

Now for the real question— Does anyone have a front??? Do they even exist in that color? Never seen one, but they have to exist, right?

Nvm. they do…
Someone was selling a wheelset here in 2014 ish where the front had it but it cracked at the flange and was replaced with a regular Stout Skraxle hub by Spec. Won’t send those pics. Search and ye shall find it.
I will, however, send one pic from an old PB listing from the UK. If this was your bike, reply to me and I’ll give credit if needed. This one doesn’t have the original Skraxle.
If anyone has this exact hub or a front wheel with it and is willing to part with it, PM the OP. Looks like they came laced to red Mavics on 1999-00 S-Works bikes. F8565481-8BA2-41B6-ACA4-5AC50F68B981.png
 
Finally got the bike done. Drive side pic only but it gives an idea of what it looks like. I had a hard time with the down tube sticker placement due to the seam looking like faded lettering so it is slightly askew, was not going to try to fix it. I did do a clear over the entire frame after the new sticker kit Gil sent me and it came out decent but not pro quality paintjob. 2 part and a bit quick to cure so some overspray in places I need to 2000 wet sand to get the bumps off. Still undecided about the saddle and grips but they do work well with the other red and yellow on the bike.
