'96 Cannondale M900

Love your enthusiasm for this build, I used to regularly get overtaken on my commute to work by a yellow m900 and would really long like one. Judging by progress so far this is going to be of the highest standard :)

Have just been musing over what bits of this build were actually present on my original M900, or rather the bike I rode after a few alterations.

When I purchased the original back in 1996 I obviously took it out for a spin immediately, so the good news is that the forks I nicked off my brother (see above) do count as an original part, even though they were swiftly replaced by a set of MAG 21s, and were put back on the bike when I let him have it.

The original build had CODA brand cantis so these went and were replaced with m739 v brakes and shifters (1998?). These brakes were recovered with the forks...but they are not truly original either.

So the only truly original bit I will have are the forks and seat collar! Triggers broom.

Re:

So - build is continuing slowly...and with a slight change of plan out of necessity. My road bike has developed a crack in the head tube. So while I work out what to do with it the M900 will be drafted into slick (but not skinny) tyre duty. With the 44 tooth big ring I reckon it will fly. :D :D :D

Re:

Don't rush it, you really don't want to cut corners and put on parts just to get it rolling as soon as possible.
Get a cheap rubbish second-hand bike to use for a little while, give it a once-over to make sure it's safe and reliable, use it until the M900 is properly finished and then sell it again for about the same price.

Nice build so far. Are those original decals or reproductions?

Re:

Repro decals. They are stickers as opposed to the transfers on an original m900.

Fitted xt M739 v brakes today...USE post to be cleaned this weekend.
