cheers

it did have a purple DCD, looked a bit daft on a turquoise frame but you dont know till you try. theres not much option for chain devices for a zaskar

you aren't wrong, they look good but they make the chain derail when you pedal backwards which makes them utterly useless. Hans Rey used them on his zaskar though so there must be a way to make them work properly

Re:

Ive bought a brand new pair of MK1 Rockshox SID. The guy i bought them from said they were fitted to his bike back in 1998 but he changed them to rigids soon after he bought it and these have been sat in his garage unused ever since. apart from a couple storage marks to the stickers, they are MINT

i also got these Titanium/turquoise bits from racer x last week

What a colour match!

This stinger i bought for my santa cruz heckler a few years back but never got around to fitting it. It aint nothing fancy but if it works it can stay. ive been looking for a bottom bracket which is 73mm+ and compatible with a bb mounted tensioner for ages! the original XT cartridge from the zasky measures 72mm and the new Ti one i make around 75mm :D

Nice

Seems that people here are mostly interested in old junk and copycat builds nowadays. Its good to see some nos parts and someone whos willing to build the bike however the hell they like :D

Thanks :)

Its always been the same on this forum, yeah theres a few retro snobs but people arent really into practicality, If they were then they'd probably all be riding modern bikes. Riding forks that barely move and brakes that struggle to stop you when you go downhill just because its 'retro' is mad when you think about it but thats what its about for a lot of people here. Theres some really nice tribute builds on here as well, i mean they dont really interest me cus id rather build a bike for myself than a cyclist of yesteryear, although i would make an exception for a JMC spesh if i wanted to buy one...

Re:

Once its finished, this is probably going to be the nicest zaskar on the entire site

Those SID forks in that condition are a nice find. Well done :D
