fork is indeed a P2. Funny thing is the bike had a P2 on it when I got it, but it's different from the P2 that's on it now. The one that came on the bike had different dropouts and was a bit heavier...this one has nice clean looking dropouts and is noticably lighter.

How many versions of the P2 are there?

There are at least a plain gauge P2, usually found on the lower end Konas, and a much lighter triple butted version, which has 'TB' stamped on the steerer. The triple butted ones weighs from around 780 g to maybe 850 or so, depending on model year, and steerer length of course... I had a modern TB P2 on my Hei Hei which was around 900 grams, or two pounds.
 
steer-tubes don't look very long or is that an optical illusion? Some riders do prefer a more forward/aggressive posture, for off-road riding, as it facilitates more controlled, technical steering.
