Oh he does!...just doesn't like being reminded of it.

However, (i'm sure you know) be wary of Ti bolt into a Ti spindle. You need to have used steel to tighten everything up (Ti has give/stretch) and then Ti bolts with anti-freeze grease. There is sometimes a reaction Ti on Ti.

Bad memories - not once but twice

Hell of the north Cotswolds which resulted in me and Muz carrying g out a burglary of THM’s workshop for a crank spanner

And blow me the year later at Mayhem on a four man team with Muz it came loose again - except there was not THM workshop close to hand

They did look cool when I fitted them

This post is primarily a big fat 'Thanks Bud!' to PipMeister, who, being an utter gentleman, offered me something that he bought new in the 90s, at the Cycle Show Olympia, from the Stif stand.

I hoped I'd be able to fit it over the weekend and have a weigh-in, but;

1) I couldn't get hold of the calibrated scales
2) bought a bike for my old Mum, and fixed that up

Regardless, I'm still super-excited about... this...

Woop!

I thought the silver cogs were Ti, but a BETTER magnet revealed they were steel. Crazy light!! Thanks again Pip!!!

Nice one Pip :D

I bought aluminum crank bolts years ago for my weightweenie build trying to get close to 18lbs but could never convince myself to install them.

 8 years and counting. I think this may *never* be finished.

The calibrated scales came home for the weekend, so there shall be updates!

Tempted to fit my Pace Sub rc130 bars, but they're black, and worry that they'd ruin the look of the bike... Thoughts?

I also have a set of compact cranks (22, 32, 42) that are 20g heavier than my royce/middleburn combo, but would much improve the gearing on an 11/28 and improve my chain length problem...

And grips, need better grips...

Then alloy bolts all about the place...

The headset spacer is a bit meaty too...

and I've acquired a set of magura mounts for 'tuning'...

and my gripshift Xrays are lighter than the XC pro thumbies...

Aaaaand I still haven't drilled anything...

:D

Re: 93 OCLV weightweenie Project *Shedding more weight*

I like black, it’s always in fashion daaarling

I’ve just picked up a very tired looking but reasonable sound Y-11 & you’ve got me thinking about just how light I could get it down to. It’s starting at nearly 28lb with a lot of junk on it.... bit like me really so I might do just as well to weight weenie myself first!

Looking forward to your next weigh in.
Any recommendations on reasonable priced digital hanging scales?
