93 Kona Explosif (1 of 1)

Now fitted with the majority of the rest of the decals (did any Kona sleuths guess what it was going to be off the USA decal on the seatube) just need some classic Project Two small P's for the forks and possibly a 93 specific Tange Ultimate Ultrastrong Prestige decal for the seatube or i may use the Tange Prestige Concept one which came with the decal pack to keep it looking authentic.
Some may think why have you done this to a 93 Explosif, couple of reasons really.
If there's a Kona i really regret selling it's my old 90 Explosif in the photo but it was a case of needs must at the time.
Also with being in the lucky position of having two 93 Explosifs the main one being a full bike which meant this just got left in the cave giving me a headache what to do with it, i thought i'd kill two birds with one stone and replicate my old 90 Explosif saving trying to find another one and this one gets to be used again (plus it'll ride better than a 90, best of both worlds 😁😉)
So before i can have fun with splatting the frame i need those P's, the tamiya paint is in the post to splat it so the hunt is on,i'll probably end up buying a full set of decals off GIl to get them which has giving me another idea for a Kona makeover 🤔
Here's a couple of quick photos of the 93 and a couple of my old 90 Explosif which is the inspiration.
Keep checking back 😊

Looking good, and very creative idea for the paint.
Also it’s good that you will most likely use it a lot more in this format, rather than it sitting in the shed.

Quick photo of the non drive side with the decals on, i love how this is starting to look you can see how the light at certain angles can change the colour.

Well i've finally decided to do something with my other 93 Explosif after deciding to sell it then not then deciding to sell it then sticking it back in the cave, finally i decided to take it to the local powder coaters and give it a make over.
I've had a build idea for it for quite a while and a new colour was part of it and this is the colour i went for, black with a blue fleck.
It's back and i'm very happy with the outcome, sometimes it looks very blue, sometimes very black all light dependent. I decided to get the stem and bars all done the same colour aswell and for £138 for the lot it's a bargain really.
I did ask about if they could fill the little ring ding in the toptube but they said the filler tends to react badly with the powder coat and heat and can crack, so basically it would knack things up.
Here's a couple of quick pics under the light. More pics to follow in daylight.

Now what to do next 🤔
This will be worth every penny of the cost of painting when you stand back next summer and watch it Glistening 👌🏼✨
