According to Marc, it works in both instances as it breaks the bond, but yes, in theory heat would work better with a steel seat post, as the aluminium will expand/contract quicker.

Yes, I've asked for my money back, but have to wait until next week.

Tbh though, just want to try to save the frame. If I get the refund, I'll send it up to the seat post guy to see if he can remove it I think.
