Hello Joni,
I have a couple of bikes you might be interested in.
A late 80’s early 90’s Marin Palisades 17.5” the dark grey florescent yellow version complete but with bent handlebar and replaced front wheel. I think it’s 300LX groupset.
Early 90’s Team Marin 17.5” the satin nickel with black rigid forks. The frame was replaced under warranty for a team issue frame. Was full XT but used as a commuter so most of the groupset downgraded with what I could get. Think it had a new rear wheel due to rim wear. Still has the XT shifters these were replaced with nearly new about a year before I retired it.
I can take some photos at the weekend if you want or your welcome to view, I’m in Northamptonshire. Feel free to ask any questions.

I would be really interested in the Team Marin / Team Issue - that sounds ideal, including the frame size. Can I ask why the frame had to be replaced? Just interested really. Great that you got the Team Issue frame as the replacement, as I believe it's a slightly better frame / tubing?

If you are ok to send some photos would be great to see. Do you have any thoughts on pricing for that one? Being totally honest I'm not sure of the value, so happy for you to ask around on the forum to see what others think!

Hello Joni,

The frame was replaced by Marin under warranty due to rust appearing round the bottom bracket area. I think it was upgraded because the Team Issue could be purchased as a frame only.
I haven’t ridden the bike for must be ten years now since getting a cyclocross bike for my commute. It’s in the loft of my garage, from memory condition isn’t brilliant general wear and tear no dents or cracks.
I just happened to watch Doddy’s retro bike video from Malvern, saw the Palisades and though I’ve got one of them so had a look on Retrobike and saw your post. I have no idea what it’s worth.
I will take some photos at the weekend and we can go from there.

Is the Team Issue also the satin Nickel frame? And do you happen to know which year? No worries at all if not.

I was a big Marin fan when I first got into mountain bikes as a young teen (early 90's) and the top end Marins were my dream bikes. I loved the simple geometry and clean lines ... also the fact that mountain biking essentially started in Marin County.

I'm now trying to build up / restore / own (& ride in my local forest) the bike I dreamed about back then - which I thought was the Pine Mountain, but now I have read up a bit and studied the old catalogues on Retrobike, my ultimate would definitely have been the Team Issue

Hello Joni, I’m going from memory and looking at photos on the internet I think it’s a 1993 model. Yes the Team Issue is a brushed nickel or maybe brushed chrome finish, not painted. I have a feeling that the frame could be the same as the Team Marin the difference being the Team Issue was full XTR. Essentially it’s the bottom frame with the forks stem etc from the top bike, although with a cheap mish mash of a group set. I will try to get away from work at a sensible time to get some actual pictures. I think I have thrown the old XT group set away, but I will go through my boxes of bits that might come in useful.

I have a 17.5" center to centre / 19" centre to top 1995 Team Marin i'm looking to sell. Fuji steel very nice tubing. So gutted to let it go but just too small for me.

Well I have had a bit of a sort out see photos. The Team has mostly Deore group set, levers are XT. The group set on the Palasades is a mix of LX 500 & 300 and in much better condition. I can only find three wheels all cheap ones, I assume I wore the rim down on both XT wheels. I have quite a few new and part worn tyres and a few odd bits including the XT rear mech but it’s well worn.
