Re: 1981 Claud Butler Colstar - DuraAce #035210 FINISHED pg5
Now then, as previously mentioned, I wanted to make some modifications to the Colstar, replacement new Campagnolo rear drop-outs so that I can have the little screw-in adjusters that always looked so cool to me as a teenager, (the original near-side dropout had its screw snapped off) although this time without the redundant mudguard eyes.. wider spacing to more comfortably accommodate the 135mm DuraAce 10 speed as this frame was originally spaced at 125mm for a 5 speed freewheel. And to help that spacing it’s going to get a new slightly wider bridge made for a recessed Allen sleeve nut (I had drilled out the old bridge, which was ok, but not ideal)
And of course a new baked enamel paint job, not catalogue, rather exactly how I want it;
Champagne pale gold, white lug lining, white head tube, white “correct” Claud Butler decals.
Likely to be one of the last refurbished by Bob Jacksons...
Now for the forks, again I don’t need the mudguard eyes, so I’ve cut these off... and dropped them off at Quality chrome in Hull.. first time I’ve used them as my normal go-to-guys, Allenchrome are way too busy right now.. :|
