80mm to 100mm forks - worthwhile???

Posted this in the wrong forum...ooops, anyway here it is:

I've been thinking for a little while now that I'd upgrade the forks on my Buckshot H/T from the std 80mm Mars Elites to 100mm (Reba/MX Comp etc).

Couple of reasons, first I'd like to do a full service / refurb on them, but have been told that Manitou don't hold any spares (o-rings, seals etc) for any fork pre-2005. Apparently the previous importer heaved them all into a big skip when Hotlines took over...

Secondly, I've started doing more trail centre riding on it, and one of the trails in particular has some fairly heavy landings, which are causing the forks to regularly (lightly) bottom out. Seeing as I intend to do more of this type of riding in the future, so bearing in mind the spares issue, perhaps now would be a good time to bag myself an extra 20mm.

Choice is essentially go with the fork upgrade, for which I'm fairly happy with what my options are (100mm, must have v brake bosses, 200mm steerer etc), or as I'm starting to look at now, sell the current frame and get something else capable of taking 120mm forks, possibly steel... :?:

Trouble is I really like the old Buckshot...

So, 80-100mm, worthwhile, or will I barely notice the difference?

Or, new frame...???

I put it in General / Off Topic... last time I checked a 2001/2002 HT with 80mm forks was fairly 'old school', and since I wasn't asking what colour socks I should wear whilst riding it, I thought I'd re-post it in Retro MTB chat, where I've posted all my previous technical / what part shall I buy questions...

Dons nomex overalls and awaits a flaming...
