80mm to 100mm forks - worthwhile???

Devout Dirtbag
I've been thinking for a little while now that I'd upgrade the forks on my Buckshot H/T from the std 80mm Mars Elites to 100mm (Reba/MX Comp etc).

Couple of reasons, first I'd like to do a full service / refurb on them, but have been told that Manitou don't hold any spares (o-rings, seals etc) for any fork pre-2005. Apparently the previous importer heaved them all into a big skip when Hotlines took over...

Secondly, I've started doing more trail centre riding on it, and one of the trails in particular has some fairly heavy landings, which are causing the forks to regularly (lightly) bottom out. Seeing as I intend to do more of this type of riding in the future, so bearing in mind the spares issue, perhaps now would be a good time to bag myself an extra 20mm.

Choice is essentially go with the fork upgrade, for which I'm fairly happy with what my options are (100mm, must have v brake bosses, 200mm steerer etc), or as I'm starting to look at now, sell the current frame and get something else capable of taking 120mm forks, possibly steel... :?:

Trouble is I really like the old Buckshot...

So, 80-100mm, worthwhile, or will I barely notice the difference?

Or, new frame...???

New frame. The buckshot is XC/race orientated, is it not, and a bit light for romping duties.
Get a 100mm specific frame.
I think I might be able to find a home for it... ;)

Rojo has a nice pair of judy SL's he was selling,i think that had a 200mm+ steerer. They have 100mm travel
