I only just saw these - ltwoo make mtb rear mechs with a clutch for 7 speeds and up! Posting here as clutch tech is "modern", but might be better in pre-98 as it relates to 7 and 8 speed? Anyone tried them? I think I will order an 8 speed version for my Yates - seems to be standard Shimano cable pull so should work fine with the deore DX drivetrain, friction shifters, etc!

yes T2 is 7 speed, T3 is 8 speed. I just saw on their website that the "T" series (the ones with clutches) are designated as 1x only, it's the "A" series that is for 1x/2x/3x, but they don't have a clutch... I can't see why the "T" models wouldn't work with a double chainring, so long as there is enough capacity?

Should be fine with a double.

I've been watching them with interest as I'd like a clutched rear on the gravel 🤢bike. I think they are all one to one pull though so won't really work with Shimano road levers :(.
