mtb 27.0 mm seat post

Scant - I'm interested in the 27mm pipe-style seat post you posted a photo of. It depends on the length though. I need about 185 mm to maximum extension mark, so about 250mm overall? How much longer is likely to work? It's for a 1988 Raleigh Montage. Is steel much heavier than the aluminium one? Price is fine if length is right.
