24er project DMR Rhythm 2020 NOS rebuild P3

Re: 24er project DMR Rhythm version 2 of 3 complete

Hiya, Thanks, yours sounds ace. It will have seat stays welded to the top tube a bit like an old GT BMX, rather than wishbone.
Good quality not too heavy BMX BB and cranks be good, or you could shim them down with were they called DMR wondercups? The early ones, infact all but the newset have gear cable guides for twin mechs!!
I hope its a chrome one!!! I'd love to see it even if no one else does! :D
Table top tyres seem to be quite light, reviews seemed to be a marmite mix. I've enjoyed DMR tyres. This became my local trail winter bike really all I rode over winter with a 26" D321 and Minion up front, the tyres are suprisingly good in muck if not ideal they hold up if you are careful and although they are heavy seem great and roll fast on smoother dryer surfaces.

I still love this bike even if it is a tad small. so much fun in the right trail, or used properly!

Re:

Mines Grey not chrome I'm afraid. Does the US BB mean mine is one of the first runs?
I fitted wondercups when I first got it (and if I remember they were a nightmare to fit!). Running an old set of M900 cranks and a middleburn DH ring with a singlespeed DX cog at the back spaced using a piece of pvc water pipe...
Plan is to use it at the BMX track where I prefer lighter tyres for quicker acceleration, so I think I'm going to try the tabletops for now. I have a set of Schwalbe Moe Joes on my BMX and these seem similar.
Going to do a complete strip down and rebuild of the whole bike as I may change a few bits here and there to lighten it up a bit. Undecided at the moment whether to fit a rear disk, or V brake.
Will post some photos up later in the week.

Re: 24er project DMR Rhythm version 2 of 3 complete

Well the old Trailstars seemed to have both options of BB, not sure about Rhythm. Mine has canti studs that unscrew. Will have to pop some pics up someone will know more. :)
Brake depends on wheel. I've ended up changing my Trailstar classic completely and fitted rigids and V brakes! full retro appeal, plus the bosses were not removable on that!
Acceleration is defo good, best thing about it, super easy/fun to control, unless you hit a great big rock!

Well 2020!
I've been thinking about this build for a few years now. The NOS frame came along in 2013, by then I'd had 4 Rhythm frames!
The black one got used as a winter/local general mountain bike! It was going well till I curiously put on Halo (DURO) Contra and Ception DH tyres 2.7 and 3.0 about 2.5lb of rubber. Wasn't good for my knees or the playfulness of the bike!
It got stripped and put into deep storage mud n all.

Then I fancied doing my black one a nice dark metallic grey in powder coat instead, DIY Paint chipped easily. I Had a big sort out recently and looked at new options, ideally longer and lighter as it's still a bit small for me, and threw this on sale for a bit, it didn't sell and after seeing it in daylight I decided to pull the sale and build instead. It's a bit too nice for the ghetto but good to have it built at last. Have a look. The original Halo Wheels from 2005 are no weight weenies but roll nicely, I have some Atomlab Aircorps that are lighter but they're a bit out of shape. I have a DMR Shortblock DH/Trials type hub to maybe build into a new Halo T2 or Atomlab Pimp or something. 2005 Diatech Anchors are all on there. then some fresh bits, Pivotal padded seat, BSD BMX stem, Light Table Top tyre, Howitzer Blaze BB and cranks, SS chainring. Still quite chunky at 30lbs and very rigid.
I'm not sure what's next for this, will go for a few more test rides then got another 24er (or 2) to build!

I've got a saracen amplitude frame sat in the garage and I'm really tempted to build up something like this now

Yeah do a last-nice-shape 18 inch Trailstar is my next build.

Well I got out on it today to the Park and my micro test trail. There was one minor issue before going, these integrated headset frames need some proper tightening so had to borrow a Hope Head Doctor off another bike to tighten the headset. SFN were useless. The headset situation is the major change over the older ones. I'd be happy with old but fixed it now.
It feels pretty good. It's too small the angular BMX stem could get pointy on my nearby knees, but once it gets moving it feels good almost roomy, and familiar. Looked nice in the winter sun too.
