24er project DMR Rhythm 2020 NOS rebuild P3

I've had these Wheels since 2005, I specced them on my Dr Jekyll, and decided to fit 26ers within the first year, I've pondered selling em a few times even a few months ago, but as I never truly got on the the Identiti and I've fancied a cruiser or Big BMX over the last year or so, I decided to try the 24" thing properly this time with a specialised frame... plus it nicely bucks the Fixie trends and 29ers!

So Looking about, I wanted a Rhythm, for more traditional bike shaped design and roomy sizing sounded better than short offerings plus a sharper head angle.

I got this one recently, I'm not sure if its a keeper or not or what I'm doing aesthetically. Theres a few dings and scrapes here and there, tanklike and battle scarred could stay, camo spray patch up might work too. other than that, a proper bright powdercoat, or a stealth satin black to avoid too many scallies... or get a tidier one, must admit though the welds are nice and the tubes are not too fat.

Then the thing that really gets me, horizontal drop outs... and provision for front and rear gears. What the hell! It's initially going to be SS and possibly stay SS, so tempted to shave these, the front one at least. not sure if I'd ponder 8 gears out the back.
Plus V brakes or Disc! Amazing to see how clean and simple some of the recent frames are... this was only 5 years ago! :-S

Build wise, Rigid Trailblade20's fit perfect and really are rigid. track brilliantly. Otherwise my mate has some Dirt Jumper 2's from the same era in green, this will add 2lbs or so to the front end.

So any comments or thoughts?

Anyone interested in this build?
I have sort of completed this bike, but it's recently become uncompleted again!!

I still don't like the Halo tyres and most of it's use will be track work or urban, so looking at stuff like Holy Rollers from Maxxis or theres a great ebay deal on Schwalbe Table Tops, but reviews are patchy on those... either that or some DMR tyres maybe, any thoughts LMK by here or PM.

OK well I bought another frame in the end. and resold the green one. The black one was slightly newer Red decals on black. Once i upload more pics I'll update the thread, at one point I had 2 DMR rhythms side by side and my Last Rufus frames...

anyway, I did some shaving and some DIY painting!

Was that a rattle can job? Looks pretty good.

Looking forward to seeing it rebuilt. With regards to the first one, these kind of bikes always get a battering through use or careless owners.

Yes I used Plasticote, and as this was the end of last summer, the weather was much the same as now! not the most durable finish but looks good at the mo!

I finished the first build last autumn but made changes with Hi rise wing bars and BMX stem, and I've just robbed the (38t) chain ring off it for my other modern play thing and loads of chain slack with the 34t on there now, for the sake of not spending money, I might try 34:18 for a giggle or try remove a link and do 34/16. I'll grab some more pics ASAP.

And this is the one I happen to have as a potential future 'other project', God knows what I'd fit on it. unless I squeezed 26ers in!

Be nice to get some adventures in while it's 'summer', and with a BMX track near work i'd be rude not to!

Always wanted a DMR for no apparent reason as I'm way too tall for them and dont ever do any jumps etc.

Thanks, it scratches quite easy, so wishing I'd powder coated it now, but it's still decent for inexpensive DIY in a cold summer!

I'm 6ft 2 and past any ambitions of properly jumping. Partially why it's got a stealth colour scheme, also the frame is tall for a jumper these days, I got giddy looking at BMX cruisers and figured this would be better and fun to build n muck about on, BMX tracks, and messing about locally.

I Figured you don't need a good reason to build a reasonably cheap fun bike. Can always sell it if it gathers too much dust or feels wrong, but it's very much a mini steel mountain bike, it feels good.

I've fitted new tyres now so hoping it handles evn better, if I get a dry day I'll get those recent pictures...

Oh and the Last Rufus I sold that when I bought and built the Cotic. Last really do make quality frames. Weighty and Seat post was too tight but such a good quality bombproof specialist thing. If you are serious bout jumping or street riding or tight bikes I'd defo recommend Last.
