2011 Projects

i am in no way as Retro as any of you lot, but i have 2 projects to finish:

LX components for my 98 FSR

finish my 99 Hardrock comp before the sun comes out. which i intend to kit out with XT M737-740 range of components eventually.

although i do like the idea of a Parkpre...or Marin Muirwoods...they've both caught my eye since joining this forum....

Only got this on the go at the moment, modern I am afraid.

I am finishing two for friends, a Alpine Stars Al Mega re-build and a mid 90's Marin Palisades Trail.

Then gonna be hunting high and low for another mid-eighties slack-angled queen to keep the Canyon company.

On the road side I am upgrading the Razesa to 9spd STI's and building up a 79 Koga with Dura Ace..

Also looking out for a total resto project on some sort of 60's/70s tourer :)

I liked my '93 Lava Dome so much I've just bought a '96 frame from Konaman1 which is on it's way now to Vaz finishes for them to retro mod it.
I'll need to take the rear wheel, rotor and brakes to them in my hold luggage next May so that a disk mount can be fitted accurately.
The plan is for me to collect the resprayed frame in September and build it up as a XC race bike once I'm back in Spain.
In the mean time I want to learn how to rebuild my Z2 Superfly forks so that I can fit them on the earlier Lava Dome and retro ride the C2C again this autumn.
I've just recovered a saddle which has made all the rest look tatty so I'll be ordering some more leather off cuts soon.
Oh did I mention I like to ride my bikes lots too.

Got all the bits to build my lads Kona Hahanna, not sure whether for Birthday or Xmas, his growth rate until may will dictate whether it goes for powder coating then or in November.

May build myself a station bike as I can imagine leaving any of my current 3 rides there.

Carl.

Get an intermediate finish on the '91 GT (and ride it  ) before ripping it apart again

And there should also be a frame en-route some time soon that will be demanding attention
