I've weighed up whether to respond to the request for comments on price, it's not an easy one. But my take is that on a specialist forum like this, if the other members are anything like me then they'll look at the price they'd be willing to pay for any bike in terms of the sum of its parts. Most people here are probably comfortable putting together bikes to their own spec from the frame up, and indeed that's all part of the hobby. For a 'special' frame, unless it has a dream spec already, then most enthusiasts are going to be looking at what they'll do to complete it as a special bike that they will cherish. I'm definitely no expert at all in Kleins or pricing them, but I imagine the right buyer would be willing to pay a good price for the right frame (like in an auction, ideally you'll need two of those buyers to sell at a good price).

But when it comes to the parts on this bike, unfortunately there's nothing here that's cherished either from a retro perspective or a modern perspective. Being brutally honest - which is how buyers judge these things - 9-speed 105 is not classic, high-end or remotely rare so is not valued by the retro crowd, but neither is it appreciated as a modern groupset since it's way surpassed by all the modern Shimano offerings. If you look at the sold prices of a used 9-speed 105 groupset on ebay you'll probably find that there's very little resale value at all in the those parts, the same with the wheels and the stock finishing kit. Not to say that it doesn't all work great, but there's just no real demand for it and no-one is looking to spec their bike with it.

So if it was me considering this bike, I would be looking at the value of the bike as essentially the value of the frame. Like some of the other replies, I'd say keep it!

SYnchronicity and FatalSwan - all very good probes of psychology, it’s partly a space issue and partly a lack of use issue, but you are right it’s a reluctant ‘let go’.

I like your take on riding ‘don’t be dictated to’ and I do find it very frustrating that were it not for crazy or inconsiderate drivers I would be on the bike and out and about.

Ah my son blags it repeatedly. But now he is beginning to say ‘we can’t use that on a daily basis…it’s too nice…’

I approach my current bikes as consumable items…and so when they bounce down the trial after I have landed on my arse I fear not….but when I have these older, beautiful things, we don‘t like to use them that way.

Change description, it is not a carbon bike, it is alloy with carbon stays and forks or am I mistaken?. Reduce price, it will not achieve the wanted one as others have mentioned, the parts, although full functional are not desirable. Be realistic about it, yes it is a pride and joy, but it is an object, not a living being, so you need to de-attach from it if you really want to sell it. Check for alternative now, so you have something forward to look for.

And finally, I guess you can always keep it and use on some other roads further from home? Country lanes mean space perhaps not an issue and I guess other means of motorised transport that can take yo and Klein to more cycling friendly places.

Absolutely it is aluminium and carbon but the NAME is Klein Quantum ProCarbon so I have been very accurate with that….but I can add alloy-carbon to the description….

I understand. BTW, I have two similar built bikes, one is Claude Butler Vicenza with carbon forks and both stays and other is Interloc Scandium with carbon forks and seat stays. Both in great condition, light, responsive and fun to ride. Claud with full Campaq Mirage groupset and Interlock full Ultegra 6500 triple, bought at £90 and £250 respectively - to give you a comparison, although I do understand the power of a Brand
