I have here 2 frames that might reduce to scrap or wallhanger in the end, but also may be of interest to someone. Let say 25 pounds/pcs excluding postage (around 15 pounds to the UK).
First up is this Alan frame from beginning 80's. Size is 60(c-t) x 59(c-c). In a very nice condition, no dents and almost no scratches. Just have to polish the lugs and it almost new. All threads are in good condition except from shifter lever studs (the part that goes into the frame). BUT..... as can be seen on the pictures it has two cracks. One is in the lower lug of the toptube. My guess is that the headset was to tight. Second is in the seatpost lug. It has a small hole drilled at the end to stop the crack which has seem to work. I had no problem with fixing the seatpost. I also rode with the headtube crack, actually in fixed mode and didn't see it propagate, but I didn't use it much. Fork is a very nice condition. Comes with the Campy seatpost engraved Alan. SOLD
Second is this unknown frame. Size is 58(c-t) x 55(c-c). It was branded as Colnago and had Columbus tubing decals, but it is clearly not. Still, I think it is a pretty nice quality frame, seeing from the lugs and the paintwork. No dents, but as I removed the decals it needs a respray. Chrome lugs are corroded and probably can't be really saved, but nothing structural. BB says Tange Champion tubing, as well as the fork. Frame weight is something like 1800gr. The connection of the seatstays to the toplug is pretty particular and could give a clue about its origin. One "but" here, the picture of the inside of the seattube seems to show a partly (1/4) circumferencial crack. I didn't have a a problem keeping the seatpost clamped but it looks suspicious. FORKS SOLD
Please let me know what you think.
