1999 Specialized S-Works FSR XC M4 Build Thread

After chatting to Jeroen from the mtbmuseum last night he has inspired me to rebuild this bike into a ridiculously lightweight one like his ...
Thought I’d add some photos of Jeroen’s bike
Sorry to derail, but were those taken in the museum you spoke of? There's a lot in the background that I'd like to see more of!

UPDATE!
Just waiting for my silver FSR XC donor bike to arrive so I can replace the chainstay and my mate Chris has been servicing my shock! So far he’s done an air can service and is going too rig up a test to see if he can replicate how the shock was when I was using it.

Cheers mate!

^^ I’ll be on the hunt for a titanium BB at some point as that will supposedly save some weight, just have to work out what cranks I’m using, I think it would be cheating to go 1x on this rebuild🤣

So I took the backend off tonight and cleaned using some Tru-Tension ‘Snow Foam’ which was absolutely brilliant, it’s great because it’s waterless! Defo recommend.

You guys are not going to believe it!

My donor bike arrived tonight but it’s also cracked😢

I’m still on the hunt for a chainstay, let me know if you have one.

You made me nervous and I had to go check the swingarm on my '98. Thankfully, it was crack-free! Is the XC chainstay the same as the other FSR's of that era? It certainly looks identical to the one on my old Extreme of similar vintage.
