1999 Specialized S-Works FSR XC M4 Build Thread

Damn! Two cracked in the same place ? That’s shitty luck!
And 7.9kg?

So I stuck the better chainstay of the 2 I had on the bike and also received the shock back from my friend who serviced it.

I’ve also stuck this one as is in the loft this evening, I will continue the build at some point and complete it but atm I need the room for some special stuff on the way….watch this space! This bike is going to cost a lot to complete the way I want it so will take a while.

@jimwise68 saves the day with this 2000 FSR XC, non cracked! This chainstay is slightly different to the others. The cylindrical hole running through the chainstay yoke seems to be a lot smaller which means the material is more beefy haha, hopefully I’ll never have to buy another one again.

Ok so as you can see in the pics above there is an original shark fin disc adapter sitting on the frame…I’m planning to do rebuild this bike up with some more modern components instead of a weight weenies build then my dad can ride it🤞🏻🤣, the chainstay really is solid so I reckon it will do well over Leith Hill?

I used a no-name rear disc adapter on one version of my FSR-XC build and it worked OK. I looked for that shark fin adapter but they're impossible to find! Good info on the chainstay - do you think that was a Y2K model update?
