the Shiver SC fork is always a love-hate sort of thing for most people.

The people on the "hate" side of that equation are just flat-out weirdos. Those forks make the bike imo. She's a beaut!

Very awesome build. Great to see. I was wondering how you like the A2Z rear mount? I'm trying to locate one myself to put on my Yeti DH6.

I like it just fine, it has "wiggle room" so that you can slide it about for adjustment. But it means that you have to eyeball it so that your pads don't hit the discs at an angle. I have since painted it matt black. Looking at the angle of the a2z and the space you have, it may not work? Perhaps you would be better off with the 22mm Hayes caliper.

The cleaner alternative is to get the correct brake arm; you might want to hit up Nathan on this thread to see if his hardware suits you though:

I scored a very-hard-to-find Easton CT2 carbon seatpost on the 'Bay as well as a SDG Ventura Comp Ti and duly fitted them to my bike. Although it is nice to be "more Easton" now, visually it somehow doesn't come together as well as with the Thomson silver seatpost that matches the machined Shiver SC front legs. I'm feeling a bit like the wife when she's matching outfits. What do you guys think?

I've got a couple of spare fox trunnions (my precious!) so can keep running Vanillas for the moment but toying with the idea of a Risse Racing Jupiter5, anyone run one of these on 4B/S6 ?

I've visited your Schwinn threads more than a couple of times on my journey assembling the Homegrown while looking for spares and stuff. I've probably been in competition with you for parts as well - I acquired a spare '00 Rock Shox SID rear shock and a pair of black magnesium dropouts off the 'Bay, and then bought a '01 Straight 6 that turned out cracked on the downtube gusset. The rear end was still good but well-used, and I knew the Vanilla R would work with the 4 Banger, so now I have what probably counts as two and a half bikes.

It appears that the geometry of the Straight 6 and 4 Banger are different, so I am thinking of a "his and hers" pair of 2001 Schwinn Straight 6, for easy riding, and the 4 Banger for light-duty XC. The parts spec will naturally change among the bikes, as the 4 Banger would be built as light as I can make it. I am however looking into possibly re-welding the gusset at Frank the Welder if its not a fatigue-related crack. Opinions?
