1999 Kona Stinky Dee-Lux ..... Polished & new disc brake

Well as a few of you know, I didn't know what I had purchased, just that it was cheap and looked the part and in fairly good condition.


I am going to be using this bike as my main once done.


So here's a few pictures to start with and I will add to it as & when..

I have been informed that this is a future classic being the platform modern Kona Full Suspension bikes are designed after.



I have RaceFace cranks on the way and a new SRAM chain as the Shimano ones just don't cut it with me at the moment.


I cant wait to get out on this baby..

They're brilliant frames. I've been riding a Coiler for the last six months and it's been a brilliant frame. Get out and give it some stick

I'm jealous. I've always had a thing for Konas. I wanted one of these 99 family of their full sussers but couldn't stretch to it. I got my B17 instead.

I'd love to stumble on such a bargain myself.

Quick update.


I have purchased a Raceface Prodigy crankset.

A Crank Brothers Bottom bracket

A friend GAVE me a M971 XTR rear mech!!

Got the rear seatstay welded

Purchased a SRAM chain & lube.


Its coming together nicely

Nice looking bike though. Kona's do have their haters but I like them.

Matey has a nice set of Avids for peanuts so I am on the lookout for some decent priced disc hubs / wheels

I've a Hope Bulb on Mavic D521CD and XT on D521CD (needs a spoke and hub serviced though) for sale. Have a look in my for sale thread:

Well a little bit of an update.

Got a Raceface Prodigy crankset from Velocipede on here . THANKS

a mate gave me a XTR M971 rear mech. bargain

I purchased a Crank Brothers Cobalt bottom bracket for £20 from CRC, which I think is an absoloute bargain and it is a beautiful bit of kit, too nice to fit maybe?

Got a retroish cycle computer for £3 from ebay.. CATEYE TOMO XC

just had a full cable service and rode it for the first time today and its SOOOOO SMOOTH.

OMG this bike is quality.



Could do with a cap for the top of the steerer tube... any ideas where from?
