1998 Salsa Ala Carte and 2002 Brodie Kinetic

Finally had a chance to take at least a little care of this thing.

It had some nasty creaks in the drivetrain last time I rode it. Which was some time in late 2022…

So I took it apart, cleaned all the bits I, applied some grease where necessary and threw it back together.

I‘ll need to ride is thing more… or rather again.

Allways love a brodie SSP, can't wait till mine is finished 🤩

Added a Mac Ride spacer to have it eligible for everyday use. Such a smooth ride.

Followed the guy on the Norco down a trail, tried a stepdown jump with a decent gap for the very first time today, came a little short and touched down hard. Pretty noisy when that fork bottoms out!
😄

I've changed the forks. The Z2 made some strange ticking noise after I messed up the landing of a step-down jump made for modern bikes.

As per the norm, I got it for a very reasonable price. Astonishingly though, this Manitou SX R looks almost brand new, except for some tyre marks on the inside of the arch. So far it does not seem to work considerably less well than the Marz Z2. It even offers compression damping, which is set to the max amount...

I'm planning to have the Marz Z2 looked at, to see whether there actually is an issue that causes the noise.

But I do have to say, that I am very fond of the matching bellows.

Amazing bike(s), some of the photos in here are stunning! Wish I didn't live in London sometimes, there's no proper trails around me for a considerable distance.

This Brodie Kinetic seems as sophisticated in its conception as any Sovereign or Expresso I have seen. Can't really tell the difference with any of these models.

Would you have some additional pictures of the rear end? The seat stays seems to be bended differently than late sovereign ones.

Nice machine anyhow! Must ride amazingly well.
