1998 kona lava dome bottom bracket size

Hi all

I purchased a Shimano BB-un55 bottom bracket (size 68mm 110mm mm10) for my 1998 Kona lava dome and went to fit it tonight it threads in the frame fine but when it comes to tightening the left hand cup after putting the main unit in it wont go in all the way so it butts against the frame there's about a 1 or 2mm gap and its compressing the bearings as they go all lumpy if I tighten it.

have I got the wrong size bb?

figured it out I need a 1mm spacer to go on non drive side cup

Yes,I was just going to say you need a spacer. That way you can get perfect chain alignment.

Oh i need to put it on drive side i take it then i was going to put it on non drive side
