Re:

I thought it would be a good idea to post this new information regarding the Craigslist Ku that Brian came across, so I hope he is cool with that. With reference to his second post, he did indeed look into restoring the Ku. With that in mind the seller sent him two pictures of the frame / bike before it was stripped of paint.

Firstly, the information documented in the Craigslist is somewhat off the mark :? .

Quote; “The original finish was banana blue and banana yellow”.

This prompted the idea of it being similar to the model listed in the 1997 Catalogue  .

It turns out however that the frame was one colour  , which I would call Esse Blue, like the 1998 Manomano.

Secondly, it also had 1998 Decals, despite having 1997 cable routing and displaying an Easton Elite Program Taperwall 7005 Decal that was used for the 1997 model. The 1998 Ku was constructed from Columbus Altec2 Megatube 7005.

This is the second Kona Custom frame recently discovered that has the tubing from a previous year’s spec, with the decals of the following year. There’s probably a less cluttered way to explain all that, but here is the Craigslist Ku:

If it looked like that when it was stripped, the question needs to be asked, why   ?
