Just in case I do keep her, are there specified lengths for the various incarnations of P2 forks? Don't want to buy something and get sent the wrong thing but through my lack of knowledge not actually realise!

My advice is to leave this site as quick as you can. You might make £150 selling the stuff but you'll end up spending 3 times that amount if you linger too long.

Yes it is an issue, but the Evans Cycles link you found is to the correct length fork, 41cms from crown race to axle centre. They do make a 44cm alternative for more modern frames that have geometry for 80-100mm forks, but it looks quite different (I'd post a pic, but it's so f'ugly it might spoil your entire evening)

No reason not to paint a modern fork in gunmetal, but it'd be getting a bit costly. Cheaper but adding weight would be to buy a period P2 off eBay plus this

I think alkingsmill was right. I'm now looking at powder coating a black P2 fork so it looks the right colour.

Don't suppose anyone knows the colour code for the paint and where I could get some original decals or some repros made?

I personally think RAL6022 Olive Drab is the closest, but maybe somebody else could do better. Gil_M on this site is your man - he may well have the P2 decals already on file, but if not I could send you a picture for him to work from.

Interesting reading, I am also looking for a pair of 'period' gunmetal grey P2's for my 97 Explosif. I am considering buying new black ones as I would also like a bit more length in the steerer. Keep us udated with how the respray goes, if it does! Just to put it out there, would black forks not suit my gold/mustard colour frame anyway?

Thorpie; I'm guessing the price, assuming it's not too prohibitive, would be the same for a small amount of forks so if the price and the colour are right, shall I drop you a PM when I know more?

I'm only considering the gunmetal as that's what I 'had' originally and I'd like to get it looking as similar as possible, just for nostalgia's sake. Any idea what colour yours came with originally? Or was it a sprung front-end?
