1997 Ibis Ailib w/ Moron tubing

I always thought that the Moron (more on the ends) was a pretty clever rip on Columbus Genius tubing. We've put a few rides on this one and it rides pretty nice. The chain stay bridge is a nice distinctive feature as is the metal head badge.

Ride on

I think it's the most compliant ride I've experienced from an aluminium frame - as you've probably ridden a fair few more aluminium frames than I, I'd be interested to know how would you describe it or compare it to others?

Mr K

Ya know, I've never been a big fan of aluminum so I don't have a good point of reference. The last aluminum bike that I rode regularly was a early 1990's Cannondale Beast of the East. Right now, the riders are the Mountain Goat F-K-R 29, Goat Whiskeytown Racer, Rock Lobster Nontrager and Ritchey Plexus. I was more thrown off by the full length Grip Shift than anything else.

.

Much was made of the fancy Castellano BB/chain stay intersection in the brochure - wasn't that design carried over on a few other Ibis?

Mr K

PS. Mine at Roman Lakes earlier in the year.

I was/am pleasantly surprised as to how comfortable it is on long epics. I`ve done 58 miles in the saddle in one go recently and it was as good as ANY hardtail I`ve had. I had reservations about the top tube length (or lack of it) too but, no, its a great bike to pilot.

The Last week (excuse the non retro bits)
