It’s been awhile but thought I should update this. The Kila has become my go to hardtail which is exactly what I hoped it would be. It’s such a great bike, here it is as of today:
I found a more suitable saddle in my spares (I forgot I had it!), I had to ditch the gripshift too. I’ve never really had them on a bike before and I just couldn’t get on with them, the Deore lx 3x8 shifters came off a bike which I split down for spares recently.
It did have a Sachs front mech but I’ve changed that for a M560 Deore lx one. The gears are completely dialled now.
I’ve swapped out the wheelset for the original XT rear and paired it with a parallax front (the original had a joytech hub which was worn out).
Biggest change is the bomber z2’s in place of the P2’s. I wanted to keep the curve canti’s which are super powerful if fiddly to setup and I had a Marzocchi canti cable hanger already so picked these forks up at a decent price via eBay.
I’m calling it good for now, just enjoying my after work/weekend rips on it!
