1995 Marin Team Titanium XTR

Re:

Ha. I’m not much of a worrier. I wanted the bike to be as period original as possible but the best I could find that kept the look.

Re:

I think some titanium bolts might be a nice touch. I’ve managed to find some shimano grey gear cable covers which I’ll change out and hopefully some XTR titanium crank bolts.

got it a bit wrong!

they had ti bars, ultra lite seatpost, ti railed saddle, critical racing brakes and topline cranks

Re:

Thanks a million for that. Never seen that catalogue

I’m not too far away then. XTR groupset.

I see the white industries kit as well.

Would love to get my hands on the titanium handlebar. That would be sweet.

The bar ends look like typical marins but in purple to match the brakes and seat rails.

One sweet ride. Manitou 3s.

Re:

I wonder whether the handlebar was a Marin branded one of whether they used the Titec one.

No way to know from the catalogue.

I do like the Marin logos on the handlebars though.

Im not sure - i think it would be titec

or the one-piece marin ti stem/bar too!

Re:

Added some titanium crank bolts and matching grey cable housing.

Couldn’t get the fork brace off so gave it a good clean and polish.

Just waiting on a new lighter saddle.

Weighs 23.7lbs without saddle - is that light ??

It is light.

Given the probably cost of the Ti bolt for the crank or the innertubes.

Then a Ti bottom bracket and Light Quick Releases is an obvious weight reduction step, drop the brake dust covers too, and Ti axles for the pedals ;-)

You're missing the headset locking-washer. They are in there for a reason.

and a good round of Alu bolts (STI shifters, rear mech brake away, mech cable clamp bolts, front mech clamp bolt, bottle cage bolts etc. (or plastic ones/push in for hole fillers like the other cage bolts holes), chainring bolts...
