I have always been a Manitou guy - never bothered about Rock Shox. Originally Marin was 90% married to Manitou. Rock Shox on them were VERY rare. The Marin / Rock Shox combination became more common from 1995 onwards.

Indeed. Look at the Marin full susp bikes from first half of the nineties: Manitou front and rear. Here's from the 1994 catalog.

Nice. Thanks. Yeah I remember Rockshox Judy being the thing back in the day. I always question the reliability of the seals and leaks even if you could find a pair that was a good price.

I imagine those FRSs weighed some. !? Even the titanium.

I did have a 96 FRS frame for a while but it has a crack by the bottom bracket and the shock was leaking and the cost to replace was daft from the US so that was that.

I have an old set of 1995 RS Judy XC and I'm afraid I'll have to throw acid or something in it to get the "melted" elastomers from the lower stanchons... Go for the forks you like most aesthetically as non of them "early" forks worked decently. ;-)

At the moment, I have 3x 1994 Team FRS, 1x 1993 Pine FRS and 1x 1994 Pine FRS frame sets here. If you have any questions, let me know :-D

Wim, I professionally service and restore Manitou forks. I know exactly what you are talking about! The biggest stress and hassle are the old Elastomeres that are melted like candy underneath the seats in a 55 degrees hot car interior. So annoying!

Yeah, do you have a 1996 FRS or Team Issue 1996 or 1997 !?

Re:

How much does the team FRS weigh? It was based on Manitou 3s wasn’t it ?

Have you not got the titanium FRS

As far as I remember, the Team FRS frame set was about 4.300 gramms with fork. Yes, 1994 was Manitou 3 year. Front and back ...
