1995 Kona Explosif

Lovely bike... definitely wouldn't be losing the Maguras if it were me, they're great! Appreciate the hoses don't exactly fit the aesthetic though.

Update on the post removal…realised the post wouldn’t drop due to a very thin amount of alu still stuck to the seat tube, I’d thought it was just due to being dirty after all the treatment. The brownness is due to me using some old wet and dry to see what it was that had rust on it.

So I’m going to need to re apply the caustic soda and get the last bit out. I’m pretty sure the post wouldnt of come out with a professional puller it was in well bonded.

Do the pros say they can get every post out???
The pros do not guarantee every post can be removed by their machine puller but somethng like 95% plus. You really need to ream out the seat tube after removal to do the job thoroughly.

Just looked up "The Seat Post Man" and as of 2001 he was quoting over 1800 consecutive successful removals.

For me, using the Ealing bike shop that I used cost me £80 and made total sense on the fairly pristine Genesis Equilibrium frame that I had bought for £80 and sold for over £350 once the seat post had been removed. I could not risk damaging the frame with caustic soda.

However I have a 95 Hahana frame that has the remnants of a stuck post that is not worth £80 so I will be trying the soda method on that one soon.
