I shared my blue Miyata Elevation 5,000 earlier. It is one of my riders. My estimate is I do hundreds or thousands off roads kilometers per year since 2016 on the bike. In this topic I shared a couple pics of a holiday with the bike in 2021.
As I do like it I am building a clone. I found an identical frame in very good shape. It came as complete bike with Marzocchi XC51. I will fit a Miyata FatMax of the 1993 Koga-Miyata TrailRunner. The looks won't be identical to my trusty old bike, but position, contact points, gearing and wheels will be. Again a mix of XT with XTR. I will opt for cantis this time. The KORE stem is a bar holder atm. I prefer a steel stem.
Two identical frames, two brands. What is the story? Both are Koga-Miyata Explosion frames, but on my first one I replaced the damaged original decals with Miyata US decals from Gil. The European Koga-Miyata Explosion and the US Miyata Elevation 5,000 shared the same frame: full aluminium bonded and bolted.
