Just remember to use a cassette with an alloy spider otherwise you may never get a steel one off again

Dura Ace lock ring would take some lard off that or one of the A2Z ones

Hmmm, think I’ve got one of those somewhere..... I’ll have a dig around, but I’m not sure that locking ring is that overweight?

Had a play with the Altek brakes yesterday, but I'm missing some "Flanged Sleeved Bearings" 🤦

I’ve been looking out for White Industries stuff for about a year and a half (since I bought a '96 Cape Wrath with WI cranks) as I was planning on upgrading a ’97 Cape Wrath until this beauty came along, in that time I’ve found two front QR’s from two separate sellers from two different countries… the only reason I can claim them as WI kit is because they were described independently as such by those sellers.. plus they look like ones I’ve seen in wheel sets on ebay…

Anyway.. for love or money I haven’t been able to acquire a rear..But young RetroSpud suggested I just swap out the shaft from a generic set… excellent idea, so just because I’ve got nothing better on, here’s how..

Tighten two nuts together then hold by the top nut in a vice…

Unscrew the QR arm, repeat in reverse with some shiny new Titanium ebay jobs.. use a blob of high strength thread lock when doing this…

And Bob’s your Mother’s Brother…. IMG_5881.jpg IMG_5882.jpg
