1994 Trek 7000, 19.5" Frame, STX-SE Groupset

I came across this bike on marketplace for $50. Didn't realize exactly how clean it was until I got it home and started cleaning it off. It must have been taken around the block back in '94, and garaged since then.

I know it's a lower end model (STX-SE groupset), but I figure if it has any real value it'll be due to its pristine condition.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

As you suspected though, you haven't found the mother lode, it's value is in its condition. If you were to flip it you might double your investment, not much more.

It you were to use it you would get so much more than your money back.

Depends what the market is like where you are, but I'd say it would be reasonable to expect $100 to maybe $150 for it.

I'm with swap the pedals and use it if you fancy it. It maybe lower end but the only downside is it'll be a bit heavier than higher end bikes of the period. STX is great stuff an should function mostly on par with higher end kit of the same period.

The tires look new and would set you back at $50 alone to buy new

Thanks for the info folks. It's an uncomfortable ride, with the rather aggressive geometry, so I'm considering swapping the stem and bars for something a bit more modern (already have a quill stem to threadless adapter in the parts bin). Kinda want to just ride the piss out of it hahah.

I have a slightly earlier one.. once I sorted out the very aggressive riding position it’s a lovely ride .. I don’t find it harsh at all and tbh it’s a bit better than my 1989/90 Trek 950 (heresy I know ) the Exage and Deore LX combo all works just fine ..
