1994 Kona Lavadome spec question

Hi all,

Back in 1994 i had a Kona Lavadome, metallic green. I have just recently purchased another, original spec bike that has hardly been used (what do these people do with their bikes?).

On closer inspect there are some subtle differences to the componentry that i had on mine and that are included on this. Given what these are i don't think it is a case of simply someone changing them.

My question to you guys is where there two different releases of this bike? If not then how do you explain the different spec?

For ease i'll indicate my original LD as OLD and my current one as CLD.

OLD seat collar - Silver and round edged . CLD seat collar silver and square edged
OLD rear seat tube mounted cable guide - Black. CLD - silver
OLD High command levers - Silver. CLD - black
OLD Cantis were machined alloy ones. CLD ones are cast and look more like standard Shimano.

Im just curious to know if any of you guys have any idea why this might be.

They may simply have been a mid-year switch in suppliers - there is a lot of variability when you delve into the details. Bikes are typically built in batches.

Interesting. My original one was bought in late Nov/Early Dec 2003 as a present for Christmas. I guess the new one i have must have been a later addition.
